Dominical Costa Rica: Where the
Mountains Meet the Sea
Beach exploration
Within a thirty minute drive of Casi el Cielo there are
a dozen beaches on the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Each has its own unique
charm and each is well worth a visit. For the surfers, Playa Dominical
is a long stretch of beach with good waves and strong currents well
known as one of the most consistent places in Costa Rica for surfing. While there, take a
stroll through the "funky" town of Dominical and stop in for a
snack or cold drink at one of the small bars or restaurants. Or visit
Playa Punta Dominical or Playa Dominicalito to admire the impressive
rock formations, get some sun and visit the nearby restaurants. If you
are seeking seclusion, Playa Hermosa or Playa Bellena in the heart of
Bellena National Marine Park offer you miles of soft sand for that long
relaxing walk or invigorating jog. Playa Arco with monkeys and
waterfalls, Playa Pinuela with calm waters and seafood sold by local
fishermen, Playa Tortuga with its wild beauty almost untouched by human
beings, Playa Ventanas with its rock windows to the sea and its
mysterious caves, each is different and each is captivating. Spend the
day or watch the sun set over the water with someone special--the
beaches are waiting and the choice is yours.

National Parks
Casi el Cielo is located close to four important parks
in the impressive National Park System of Costa Rica. Manuel Antonio
National Park is composed of three long strands of beautiful white sand
beach fringed by jungle on one side and the Pacific on the other. The
park abounds with wildlife and it is almost certain that you will see
troops of the endangered squirrel monkeys there. Ballena National Marine
Park was created to protect marine life and the largest coral reef on
the Pacific coast of Central America. It is here that whales winter and
whale sightings are common. Several species of turtles also nest here.
Caņo Island National Marine Park is an island off the coast and visible
from Casi el Cielo. It is important in the protection of many species of
flora and fauna and is one of the premier locations for scuba diving and
snorkeling. Corcovado National Park is a wonderland of virgin
rainforest, unspoiled beaches, jungle-thick riverbanks and exotic
wildlife. Tours to any of these parks can easily be arranged for your
group.
